Jordy Groters Qualifies for Youth Olympic Games 2014 in 100m Breaststroke

Today the 4th FINA World Junior Swimming Championship initiated in Dubai and Aruba was  honorably represented by two talented swimmers Jordy Groters y Mikel Schreuders. Both of them competed in the 100m Breaststroke event among 68 swimmers from around the world.

despite not swimming his best time Mikel still did a tremendous job. he falls in the youngest category, seeing that he has to compete against swimmers born in '95 - '96 & '97. Mikel falls under the '98 category. He finished in 54th place among the 68 swimmers. We are sure he will be much stronger by tomorrow and ready to give a tremendous performance.
Jordy achieved something historic. For the first time he becomes the athlete who qualifies for the Youth Olympic Games 2014. He improved his time from 1:04.78 to 1:04.28, making a National Record in 100 m Breaststroke. Jordy finished in 27th place among 68 swimmers from around the world.
Congratulations to both swimmers, family, coaches  & the Aruban community are very happy with the tremendous achievement of these two swimmers.
