Cayman Islands: The Aruban boys puts 2nd win in the bag Thursday putting them in 2nd place in Group A. They are ready to face Us Virgin Islands Today at 4:30pm. Jean-Pierre van der Linden and Ryan Illes netted two goals each to propel Aruba to a 6-0 victory over Sint Maarten. The win improved Aruba to 2-0-0, keeping it in contention for a place in the semifinals. Van der Linden now has three goals in the competition, sharing the team scoring lead with Denrick Lopez, whose 38th minute goal gave Aruba a 3-0 lead. Team captain Jason Fontalvo completed the scoreline two minutes into second-half stoppage time with his first goal. Sint Maarten, which lost to the Cayman Islands on Tuesday, fell to 0-0-2. Also in Group A In what was arguably the match of the day, Bermuda narrowly defeated the Bahamas, 1-0. Osagi Bascome, one of the tournament’s standout performers after three days of play, scored the game-winning goal in the 26th minute. The match was highlighted by solid technical play from both sides, with an emphasis placed on possession and speed of play. Bermuda improved to 2-0-0 and has yet to concede a goal. The Bahamas fell to 0-0-2. Bascome won the Man of the Match award for the second time in two games and has two goals over that stretch. Cayman Islands v.s US Virgin Islands:
The Cayman Islands ended the night leading Group A over Bermuda on goal difference (+20 to +9) after an 8-0 win over the US Virgin Islands. The red-hot Leighton Thomas Jr. scored three more goals – all in the opening nine minutes -- giving him a tournament-best eight. Five different players accounted for Cayman’s other five goals. The competition host, which has yet to concede a goal, improved to 2-0-0, while the US Virgin Island is still looking for its first point. Cayman and Bermuda will meet on Friday in what promises to be a hotly-contested encounter.
In Group B we had Jamaica v.s St. Lucia Jamaica scored a goal in each half to top St. Lucia, 2-0. Man of the Match Peter Campbell made it three goals in two games, netting the opener in the 21st minute. Nicholas Nelson added an insurance tally with four minutes left in regulation time. The young Reggae Boyz, who defeated Grenada 4-0 on Tuesday, improved to 2-0-0 and have yet to concede a goal. St. Lucia fell to 0-0-2, but has allowed only three goals. Guatemala v.s Grenada:
Esteban Velasquez struck for two goals and Guatemala defeated Grenada, 5-0. In its tournament opener, the Central American side netted all of its goals during a 27-minute span. Velasquez (28’, 35’) tallied the first two goals in a Man of the Match performance, giving the Chapines a 2-0 lead at the half. Grenada fell to 0-0-2 and seven of the nine goals it has conceded were scored in the second half. In Group C Guadeloupe improved its record to 2-0-0 in Group C with a convincing 5-1 win over St. Kitts & Nevis. For the second consecutive game, Geordy Choisi (3’) and Loic Antonides (21’) netted the first two goals. Two minutes after the interval, though, Geovannie Lake struck for St. Kitts’ only goal. Heindrix Hebreu restored the Gwada Boys’ two-goal advantage with 15 minutes left on the clock, while tallies from Ludwig Francillette (59’) and Benoit Gedeon 69’) completed the emphatic victory. Curacao v.s Saint Martin
Saint Martin rebounded from Wednesday’s opening loss to Honduras with an impressive 4-1 victory over Curacao. Federic Reymond scored three goals in a winning effort that earned him the Man of the Match award. He restored Saint Martin’s two-goal led in the 25th minute after Dean Lynford Lourensz got Curacao on the scoreboard only seconds earlier. Saint Martin improved to 1-0-1, while Curacao has lost both of its games. In Group D Antigua & Barbuda v.St. Vincent & the Grenadines Javorn Stevens scored his second goal of the game with two minutes left in regulation to lift Antigua & Barbuda to a 2-1 victory St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The result was a morale booster to an Antiguan side that dropped a 3-0 decision to El Salvador a day earlier. Man of the Match Stevens also netted the game’s first goal in the 23rd minute, but Tevin Davis equalized one minute into first-half stoppage time. Martinique v.s Haiti:
Martinique rebounded from a heart-breaking loss to Puerto Rico, scoring two goals in each half to defeat Haiti, 4-0. Les Matinino may have let a lead slip away in Wednesday’s 2-1 setback, but it responded wonderfully to secure its first points of the competition. Four different players got on the scoresheet in a game that Kendrick Agot captured the Man of the Match award. Puerto Rico v.s El Salvador:
With a 3-1 over Puerto Rico, El Salvador has maximum points from its first two games at the CONCACAF Under-15 Championship. The Cuscatlecos took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to goals from Jose Flores (5’) and Gerardo Molina (26’). Carlos Herrera added an insurance tally in the 68th minute, while Puerto Rico’s Marco Arocha scored in his second straight game just before time expired.
