CONCACAF U-15 Championships 2013: Cayman Islands defeats Aruba


In Group A The Cayman Islands defeated Aruba 4-2 in their final game. Leighton Thomas was the Man of the Match, as he scored in the 6th, 9th and 52nd minute; Ryan Johnson scored his single in the 44th minute. Scoring for Aruba were Derrick Lopez in the 35th minute and Jean Pierre Van Der Linden in the 46th. With this result, both Aruba and the Cayman Islands ended their participation in the tournament.

Aruba's Coach Marvic Bermudez  commented

"Commitment with my country done... Thank God & AVB for the opportunity and to trust me to lead the U-15 national team at a great and big international tournament!!! We lost 4-2 vs Cayman Island... 3 win & 2 lost 23 goals scored & 7 goals allowed.Next step out soccer needs a lot of help for a better development lets all unite!!! We love Aruba <3. "


During the game Cayman Islands vs Aruba, Denrick Lopez converted the first Aruba goal from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, top team Bermuda defeated St Maarten 5-0 at the Ed Bush Play Stadium. The goal scorers were Travis Boyles in the 6th minute, Judah Champan in the 27th, Man of the Match Aaron Burgess in the 37th, Knory Scott 53rd and Oneko Lowe in the 55th

The other game is Group A was played between U S Virgin Islands and the Bahamas and ended 2-2. Grant Farrell netted for the USVI in the 28th and Dante Nicholas scored in the 72nd, while Terry Mosko and Omri Williams scored in the 37th and 70th minute respectively for Bahamas. Nick Muriel was the man of the Match.
In Group B Belize defeated Grenada 6-1. The goals for Belize where scored by Mark Samuels in the 5th, Randy Augustine in the 19th, 36th, and 68th, Rene Leslie in the 30th, and Alvin Sifontes in the 73rd. The goal for Grenada was scored by Chelon Edgehill. The Man of the match was Randy Augustine.
In the last match of the group, Guatemala defeated Jamaica 1-0. Man of the Match, Francisco Cifuentes scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute. With this result Guatemala advances to the semifinals of the tournament.
Looking ahead to match day 9:
Today will be the last day for group matches before the semifinals.
In group C, St. Martin will play St. Kitts & Nevis. Both teams are eliminated from the tournament. Honduras, who will face Curacao, will qualify to the semifinals if they win, tie or lose by 3 goals or less.
Group D will have a decisive match between El Salvador and Haiti. El Salvador, who is currently in first place, will advance to the semifinals if they win or tie. If they lose to Haiti they will be eliminated and Haiti will advance to the semifinals. The other matches in the group are Antigua & Barbuda against Puerto Rico and Martinique against St. Vincent.
